 Mr Madan Mohan Laha has started his carrier
in a very modest way as a Mechanical Draughtsman in Britannia
Industries Ltd. From the very beginning he had a dream to manufacture
machines & set up his own engineering unit. His experience in
Britannia Industries for more than a decade galvanized his dream
into reality & he decided to manufacture Biscuit making machines.
Then came the final day when he decided to quit Britannia to start
his own Business. After leaving Britannia he started his business
as a tiny industrial unit while serving the Project Division of
Chloride India (Exide India) to gain more expertise in the engineering
department of a multinational corporate house. In 1978, Mr Laha
finally plunged himself in business on a full time basis and founded
Metro Engineering Works on partnership basis. As his business grew
in size and his reputation increased, in 1990 he founded his own
company MECHTECH DESIGNERS & ENGINEERS PVT. LTD., which
is a famous name in the areas of Biscuit & Bakery Machines ,
Industrial Ovens & Drier etc.
Barring the two giants Britannia & Parle nearly all small
& medium sized biscuit companies in India like Bharat Biscuit,
Priya Food Products, Priya Gold, Bisk Farm Biscuit (Saj Industries
Ltd) Bhagwati, Anmol Foods, Mukund Foods, Monark India, Raja Biscuit
Industries have their machines designed, manufactured & installed
by Mechtech Designers & Engineers Pvt. Ltd.
With the passage of time Mr Laha's name & fame crossed the boundaries
of West Bengal to various other states in India & even to neighboring
foreign countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and
thereby earning valuable foreign exchange for the country.
To give new dimension to his engineering business, Mechtech has
diversified in other areas such as tobacco driers, engineering fabrication
jobs of Exide Industries & other companies.
The honors list of Mr. Laha includes his visit to France & Germany
as a member of a technical delegation in 2002 & 2005, his participation
in various industrial exhibitions and conference and lastly the
Award of Excellence conferred on him by FOSMI ( Federation of Small
& Medium Scale Industries) of West Bengal in 2003 in recognition
of his achievements as a First Generation Entrepreneur.
Lastly, Mr. Laha's dream came true when he was awarded the prestigious
NATIONAL AWARD as a small Scale Industries Entrepreneur by
the President of India His Excellency Shri Dr A P J Abdul Kalam
at a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi on 28th October 2005.
